Thank You for Another Day, Yakushima #YakushimaCustomRingStories

After shaping the yellow gold into rings, I applied pressure with a steel hammer.

On the surface and the sides, firmly and carefully,
I repeated the same steps again and again.

Hammering it this way makes the metal stronger.

It doesn’t change how the ring looks, yet it is essential in creating comfort for everyday wear.

I want to refine it more and more on the invisible side, wishing these rings would stay close to their lives for years.

It was an unexpectedly warm day in Yakushima South, as if I could go swimming in the sea.

I saw fresh greenery everywhere in the garden.

I looked at the rings after hammering, amid sunlit greenery.

The colour of 18K yellow gold felt so comforting, and it was in harmony with the island’s time.

Small spring flowers are blooming at my feet.

Inspired by the life within the greenery and flowers, I went back to my bench to resume my work.

Thank you for another day, Yakushima.
