今、香港からしずくギャラリーに来てくれたお二人に結婚指輪をお作りしています。
実は、わたくし、
香港には数回訪れたことがるのです。
それは石を巡る旅で、
もう２０年ほど前になるだろうか、
天然石と麻ひもでシンプルなアクセサリーを作って、大阪心斎橋のストリートで並べていた頃だった。
思えば、２０年前の香港はその頃のわたしにとってかなり刺激的な街だった。
人も食べ物も、昼も夜も、まさに眠らない街で、全てがエネルギーに満ちていた。
特に印象的だったのは、そこには二つの趣が異なるエリアが存在していたこと。
カオス的な九龍エリアと洗練の街香港エリアがあって、
わたしは九龍エリアの尖沙咀あたりを好んでアジトとしていた。
そして、今、香港を見るのはyoutubeでお気に入りのカメラ番組の中で、
先進的な今の香港の街並みの中に古き良きものを見つけては、いつも嬉しくなってます。
香港って、今どんな感じかなあ。
お二人は香港でどんな時間過ごしてるのかなあ。。
そんなことを思い廻らせながら、
アトリエの作業机に向かって、今日もお二人の指輪を作ってます。
こちらは彼のために用意した素材。
プラチナ900
彼のために幅広でしっかりと重みのあるボリュームを選びました。
彼はとても背の高く大柄な人なのです。
そして、メールで話していてわかるのは、かなりの働き者だということ。
なので、彼にはしっかりと強く、確かな指輪を作ろうと思っています。
彼らの暮らしに寄り添うような、
そんな指輪を作りたい。
丸くなったリングのアウトラインを太陽の光に当ててチェックしています。
うん、きっと良くなる。
作業を終えて、窓の向こうを見ると、ほぼ完全な丸に近い月を見つけました。
多分、満月は明日か明後日でしょうか。。
満月の頃にはお二人の指輪も出来上がることだろう。

Actually,I have been to Hong Kong few times.
These are travel to get stones for material.
About 20 years ago, I start to make simple jewelry with semi-precious stones and hemp cords

And, now I see Hon Kong city on the youtube channnel which is my favorite camera program!
I become happy when I find good olds in the advanced townscape of Hong Kong now.
On the bench, thinking about Hong Kong now and the time Hugo and Aki spend in Hong Kong,
I’m making their rings also today.
This is a material for his ring.
Platinum900,
I chose it wider and heavier for him.
He is a tall man.
And I think he work hard always.
So, I wanted to make ring strong and certainty.
I want to make rings to be next to their life.
Make it round, and checking the outline under the sunlight.
Yes, It will be all right!
After the work, I found nearly round-shaped moon of the window.
Maby tomorrow or day after tomorrow.
And
at the time, this work will be done.

朝目を覚まして窓の向こうを見ると、青空が広がっていた。
実に久しぶりの晴れ間！
今日は良いお天気でした。
今日はジュエリー作りの道具についてのお話です。
こちらの金槌
指輪の表面に凸凹の質感をつけるための道具で、
長く気に入って使っているものなのです。
もう相当長く使われているので、古い！
でもとても手に馴染んでくれる。
私ごとではありますが、
ジュエリー作りの道具はできるだけシンプルなものを数少なく持つことにしています。
というのは、
シンプルで最小限の道具を使うと、イマジネーションたっぷりでジュエリーをつくることができるから。
なので、道具を選ぶときは、
本当に必要なものだけを自分で作るか、
長く長く使われてきた古い道具を手に入れるか、
気がつけばどちらかになっていた。
そして、この金槌は後者の方。
わたしが大阪を離れて屋久島に来ることになったとき、
尊敬する先輩の職人さんが譲ってくれたものなのです。
金槌の大きさはもちろん、柄の太さや長さまでカスタムされている手作りの金槌。
叩いた時に生まれるテクスチャーの微細な表情をオリジナルとするために、
先端部分の形状を真っ赤になるまで熱して、こだわりのカーブをつけて造形を加えあります。
それが全て形状違いで何本か。
自分で作った道具は、自分そのものでもあるのですね。
大切な魂のかけらをプレゼントしていただいたような気がしました。
表面をスムースに磨いたプラチナリング。
これからここに金槌で凸凹の表情を与えてゆくところ。
金槌をピカピカに磨いているのは、
打ち付けた時にその輝きがリングに写されるからなのですよ！
まるでスタンプのように。
１０分だったのか、３０分だったのか。
作業にあまりにも深く入り込んでいた。
気がつけばその質感が現れていて、
それはとても個性的なものだった。
やった！やったぞ！
ホッと一息したので、
休憩がてら、ノマドカフェさんにアイスコーヒーを飲みに行きました。
もうアイスコーヒーなのですねー。
こちらはもうずいぶん暑くなってきましたよ。
庭にはもうプルメリアの花が！
今日の水平線。
今日も屋久島にありがとう。
明日の制作を楽しみにして、
そして、
明日が穏やかな時間に包まれることをイメージしています。

Today, I think I’ll talk about story about my tools.
This Hammer,
I often use when I make texture on the surface of ring.
Rough and organic.
I specially like to make jewelry with simple tools,
because simple way to make jewelry needs so much imaginations.
So, When I chose my tools,
I sometimes make it by myself to minimize the necessity.
Otherwise, I get tools which has been used long time.
This hammer is the latter.
A senior craftsman I respect gave me his loved hammer before I leave Osaka to Yakushima.
Hammer is a kind of soul among our craftsman.
Platinum ring which has been polished smoothly.
From now, going to make texture with hammer.
Shiny surface of hammer can give shiny texture on the ring.
It’s like a stamp.
Maybe 10minutes, maybe 30minutes,
I had been into hitting it.
And, the texture appeared.
Was so original,
and I was so glad to see it!!
After the work, I went to Nomad Cafe to drink Iced coffee.
It has been a time for Iced coffee!!
Its very hot in Yakushima today!
Plumeria flower was already at the garden.
The rainy season will be over soon.
Horizon, today.
Thanks a lot for Yakushima.
Looking forward to tomorrow.

今日の屋久島は梅雨のど真ん中で、激しい雨降りでした。
しずくギャラリーで結婚指輪をお渡しする時は、なぜか雨がピタリと止んだり。
そのあと、再び降り出した雨と一緒にサクランボが届いたり。
アトリエではしずくのジュエリーも作りました。
気がつけば雨と呼吸合わせるように暮らしてます。
この島にやって来てから、どんどん雨が好きになっていた。
雨の音、波の音、川のせせらぎ、
耳をすますと、いつもどこからか水の音が聞こえてくるのが屋久島流であります。
アトリエです。
昨日丸く形作ったプラチナのリングの造形を進めています。
今日使った道具は、
鉄鋼ヤスリと荒い目の紙やすり。
あとは手の感覚。
道具がシンプルなだけに、これが大切なところ。
「リングの形は丸いラウンドシェイプが好みです！彼女は1.8mmの幅で、僕は2.6mmで！！」
多分、しずくギャラリーに来る前にインスタグラムなどでわたしのジュエリーのことを見てくれていたのだろう。
彼がいつも素早く、適切な決断をしてくれたのがとても印象的だった。
なかなか慣れない指輪作りの作業にお付き合い頂きましてありがとうございました◎
手の中で優しく包み込むように。
造形作業は少しずつ進んでゆきます。
お二人と過ごした時間に思いを巡らせながら。
一つだけの指輪が出来上がるように。

Steel file and sand paper.
That is all tools for shaping.

屋久島では、１ヶ月のうち３５日雨が降る。
そんな風に言われている。
特にここ最近、アトリエのある屋久島サウスでは激しい雨が降り続いている。
バケツをひっくり返して、水の中に暮らしているように感じるほどの雨、雨。
このような日が私は大好きで、
激しく雨が降る日は決まってアトリエの作業机に向かって過ごすことにしています。
雨音に包まれると、心がとても安らぐのです。
今日から新しい結婚指輪作りが始まりました。
お二人が香港からしずくギャラリーに来てくれたのは１ヶ月ほど前のことでした。
春の穏やかなヒカリいっぱいの日でした。
素材はプラチナです。
この銀白色で、コントラストの高い色調、
しっかりとした重みも感じることができて、耐久性もあって、
わたくしも結婚指輪作りでは長く気に入って使っている素材なのです。
その質感に確かさを感じます。
まずは最初の第一歩。
プラチナに火を当てて、柔らかくするところから。
火を当てて、曲げて、金槌で叩いて、また火を当てて、、、
昔ながらの作業で工程は進んで参ります。
じっくりゆっくりと流れる時間。
１日の終わりに綺麗なリングとなって、ホッと一安心。
屋久島を旅して作る結婚指輪。

お二人だけの指輪を、じっくりと丁寧に作りたい。

silver white color, high contrast, hight durability.
And I can feel its weights certainly.
I prefer to use platinum for wedding rings because of its feeling of trust.
At first,
I made platinum soft with fire.
Put fire, bend, hit with hammer, and put fire…..
Progress goes on in the traditional way.
It’s not bad to spend plenty of time.
At the end of the day, beautiful ring had been appeared.
And I felt comfortable.

昨日シダの指輪が出来上がって、
次に始まる指輪作りがあって、
今日はその間の日。
朝から海に向かいました。
いつものビーチに到着すると、
南西の風がほどよいサイズの波を運んでいた。
海は霧に覆われていて、青白い。
梅雨の湿度を払拭するべくなのか、
仲間もたくさん集まってきた。
「ケイくん、車のところにスモモ置いておいたから！」
海の中でイサジロウに声をかけられ、
海から上がってみるとボンネットの上に置いてあった袋いっぱいのスモモ。
ちょうど今、屋久島はスモモの収穫の時期で、
今年はどこも豊作のようだ。
そんな一日の始まり。
海からの帰りに、そうだ！と思いついて
お気に入りの場所に立ち寄ると、やっぱり！
ツユクサがたくさん咲いていた。
そういえば、ここに来るのも一年ぶりだなあ。
今年も咲いてくれてありがとう。
アトリエでは、シルバーで月形の小さなカケラも作りました。
梅雨の自由研究とでもいいましょうか。
横にあるのはインペリアルトパーズで
最終的にはゴールドをベースにしてトパーズと組み合わせる、
小さなピアスとなる予定なのです。
あれはずいぶんと前のことだったと思う。
「雨や曇りの日には見えないけれど、
実はいつも月はすぐ近くにあるのです。」
ふと耳にした言葉に感銘を受け、それをずっと覚えていて、
つい最近ちょっとした出来事がきっかけとなって、
その言葉からデザインが生まれてきた。
大きさが約3.0mmほどなので、
今までありそうなかったワンポイントの天然石ピアスになるはずだ。
月が石を抱くようなイメージで作り進めています。
おやつにパンを焼いて、
からの、今夜はラターブルさんで夕食をいただくことになってます。
肉料理のお皿と魚料理のお皿を想像して、ワクワクしながら、
今日はこのあたりで。
明日からまた、新しいジュエリー作り始まりますので、
どうぞお楽しみに！
