On the third morning, I managed to bring it to a good stopping point, and looked at its outline in the sunlight that heralded the beginning of the day.

Before I knew it, the air had turned into something far from summer.

The platinum and yellow gold are gently braided.

It looked so airy, but I could feel its solid weight.

In the clear morning light, the small ring was creating pleasant shadows.

Beside it, the morning dew sparkled.

The brilliant green of summer is all around.

I breathe in silence.

In the flow of time on Yakushima, everything was in harmony, echoing together.

I will set the ring with green and blue gemstones.

I think those colors carried the same feeling as this morning.

It’s a wedding ring inspired by plants and water.

I want to give it a lively expression, one that feels fresh and full of life.

I can feel an overflowing energy in those moments when nature’s rhythms converge.

And perhaps—the days shifting from summer to autumn.

I believe the jewelry—crafted from platinum and yellow gold—carries that same sense of vitality.

Here in southern Yakushima, the plumerias are in full bloom.

Especially in the early mornings, I often notice a gentle coolness in the air.

The season is surely changing.

I am making his wedding band, feeling that quiet yet flowing vibration.

Braiding hard platinum and gold as if they were soft, flowing cords.

It’s almost like mizuhiki—graceful and symbolic of blessings.

Little by little, with great courage.

I had to apply more pressure to bring the two metals together and shape them into a flowing line.

I felt a quiet joy, standing in that moment as the small ring we designed together took shape.

There’s something gentle and comforting about creating jewelry on a rainy day.

The low-pressure system had turned into a typhoon and unexpectedly came close to Yakushima Island.

Fortunately, the wind hasn’t been so strong, but it has been raining steadily these past few days.

I’ve been at my desk, wrapped in a calm and peaceful feeling.

It feels like the perfect time to begin a new creation.

His ring is inspired by the vitality of plants and water —the source of all life.

I can feel all of that here in my life on this island.

He and she must know this deep green, moist atmosphere, too.

I was thinking about my friends who visited Yakushima a few years ago.

Now, let me talk a bit about the making process.

I pressed round wires of 18k yellow gold and platinum through a heavy roller,

flattening the top and bottom while keeping the sides rounded.

I adjusted them to a thickness of 1.5mm and a width of 1.9mm.

I’ll be making a ring by braiding these long, slender wires together.

I remember making many prototypes and having many discussions with him.

I feel like the dots we’ve created together are finally beginning to connect into a line.

When the rain softened, I stepped out into the garden with an umbrella.

The hibiscus looks so happy, covered in raindrops.
