日々に喜びを。小さなしずくのネックレスを屋久島のアトリエで作っています #屋久島でつくる結婚指輪

11月も終わりというのに、なんと！裏庭にバナナの実が大きくなっているのを発見。

なんだかいいことありそうな予感に包まれて、作業机に向かう。そして一日の制作を始まることにしました。

 

作品が形作られてゆく様子を前にすることができるのは作家ならではの喜びだと思う。

小さなイエローゴールドの塊が一滴の雫になりつつある。

今はまだ金属の生々しさが感じられるけれど、一つのジュエリーとして上品にお使いいただけるように、これからよりコンパクトに、より滑らかに仕上げていかなくてはならない。

 

作業の合間の一休み。

島はこれからオフシーズンに入るので、もしかするこそろそろお持ち帰りも最後になるのかなあ。

ノマドカフェさんのアップルケーキは甘酸っぱくてとても美味しかった。

 

大好きな何気ない日常がある。そんな穏やかな暮らしの中にジュエリーがあると嬉しい。

ささやかな喜びを誰かと分かち合うことができたなら、日々は幸せに包まれると思うのです。

 

夕暮れ時には秋色に染まる雲を空に眺めた。急に寒くなってきたものだ。

making Everyday Jewelry at the studio in Yakushima

What a start of a day! I found in my backyard banana is growing even at the end of November.

I got the feeling something good was going to happen, I went to my bench and started the work.

 

So glad to see that the objects are growing in front of me. I think it is a special thing given to craftsmen. 

From a small piece of gold, “Shizuku” is taking its shape. 

I should have to make it compact and smooth to be able to wear it as a noble piece of jewelry.

 

Had a little break between the work. The Apple cake that I got at Nomado Cafe was so delicious and sweet and sour.

I love ordinary life. And I am happy if my jewelry is in a calm and peaceful life.

If we could share our small happiness, every day would be a good day.

 

Before dark, I looked up at the clouds in the sky colored by the sunset.  It is suddenly getting colder. 

Thank you for today. Thank you for happy jewelry-making.

屋久島に訪れた暖かな冬の祝福に包まれて、小さなしずくのペンダントを作っている。

花々の愛おしさ、蜘蛛の巣に宿る雨粒、ダイヤモンドとイエローゴールドの煌めきと。

 

彼女が来てくれたアトリエの庭に山茶花が咲き始めている。

 

ツワブキの花に今日も鼓舞されながら。

 

自然の中に潜む神秘のようなものに近づくためにジュエリーを作っているのかもしれないと思う。

 

薄くプレート状に伸ばしたゴールドを炎に包んでカーブを与えてゆく。少しずつ、少しずつ。

ゴールドはとても小さくて、なかなかに硬い。

火を当てて曲げる、そしてまた火を当てる。同じような作業を何度も繰り返す。

昔から伝わるクラシックなジュエリー作りである。

わたしは好んで先輩から譲り受けた古い道具を使っているのだけれど、なんとなく手と作品との距離が近くなるような気がしている。

今日も時間はゆっくりと流れている。今はもう失われつつあるそのような日々を愛おしく思いながら。

Making a small drop-shaped pendant in the blessing of a warm winter in Yakushima Island

I am making a small drop-shaped pendant in the blessing of a warm winter in Yakushima Island.

Lovely colors of winter flowers, raindrops on the spiderweb, and the brilliance of a diamond and yellow gold.

 

Sazanka-flower bloomed in the garden that she came to last month.

 

I really love this yellow flower. Tsuwabuki-flowers always inspire me. 

 

I think I may be making jewelry to be closer to the natural mysticism blowing through the air.

 

Little by little, I gave a curve to the gold bar which thinned out in the fire. 

The gold is small and pretty hard. 

Put fire and bend, and put fire again. I did the same kind of thing many times.

This is a classic way of jewelry-making passed down from old times.

I prefer using the old tools that my old friend gave me because I feel like the distance between my hand and the objects is shorter. 

The times go slowly here in Yakushima, but I still love something that is being lost gradually.

目を覚ました時、屋久島はまだ暗闇に包まれていました。

窓の向こうには新しい一日の柔らかな光を受けて青の中に黒い影が浮かび上がってくる。

静かな秋の朝でした。

新しいジュエリー作り始めるのにとても良い日のように思えました。

 

 

彼女がアトリエに来てくれたのは先月のこと。夏の余韻を感じさせる、とても暑い日だったのを覚えています。

ワシントンから来てくれて本当にありがとう！

彼女はワシントンから一粒のダイヤモンドを持ってきてくれました。

そのダイヤモンドは彼女が生まれた時に彼女のお父様がお母様にプレゼントしたリングにセットしてあったものなのです。

アトリエではそのダイヤモンドを使って小さなしずくのネックレスをオーダーメイドする相談を。

 

 

彼女が受け継いだダイヤモンドを使ってしずくのネックレス作るお話の始まりです。

一滴の雨粒がやがて波紋を広げるような、何かが始まる予感に包まれながら。

 

作業台の上には彼女から受け取った一粒のダイヤモンドとk18イエローゴールドの小さな塊を用意しました。

わたしたちが一緒にイメージしたデザインがあって、あとは少しばかりの工具と彼女の大切な想いと。

それだけあれば美しいジュエリーを形作るのに十分のように思えるのです。

 

いよいよ最初の第一歩です。
