造形のひと段落した２本のリングを、太陽の光の下で眺めるひととき。
澄み渡る空気に包まれた、清々しい朝でした。
庭先には山茶花が、ぽこぽこと花をつけ始めています。
緑の中に灯る、赤い小さなドット。
そしてプラチナとイエローゴールド。
島に漂い始めた冬の気配がリングと出会い、素敵な色彩を作り出していました。
ガラスの器の中でそっと重ね合わせてみると、そこにやわらかなつながりが生まれ、イエローゴールドとプラチナがひとつのグラデーションを描き出しているように見えました。
まだお会いしたことはないけれど、海の向こうに暮らすおふたりの姿と重なり合ったような気がして、なんだか幸せな気持ちに包まれました。
考えてみると、ゴールドもプラチナも、広い大地から生まれたもので、
その美しさを思うと、この世界の奇跡を感じずにはいられません。
そして、わたしたちもまた、同じ自然の中に生まれ、存在しているのだと思うと、とても勇気づけられるのです。
時間をかけ、そのままを丁寧に磨いていくことができればいいな、と。
そんな思いが浮かぶのは、金属が宿す、わたしたちよりもずっと長い時間の感覚に触れたからなのかもしれません。
永遠の中におふたりが出会い、わたしが今、屋久島で指輪を作っていること。
それ自体に、冬の澄み渡る空のような、無垢な美しさを感じるのでした。
さて、長く続いた指輪作りも、いよいよ最後の工程を残すばかりとなりました。
おふたりにとっても、大切な日が近づいてきています。
晴れやかな気持ちとともに、どこか名残惜しさも感じられますが 。
リングには、これから彫刻模様を施し、磨き仕上げへと進めてまいります。

Linked Fern Leaves, when the two rings come to life on Yakushima
A day filled with refreshing sunlight, as if the island itself were smiling gently.
They visited my studio in Yakushima all the way from Nara and Kyoto.
The sasanqua flowers had just begun to bloom in the garden, their small red petals glowing softly against the green.
I happened to decorate the table with fern leaves, and it felt like a lovely coincidence that they had chosen a fern motif for their rings.
“Do you prefer the leaves on the outside or on the inside of the ring?”
“What if we engraved the leaves on the outside so they connect, forming one motif when the two rings come together?”
Suddenly, we came up with a beautiful idea.
Maybe the fresh air of Yakushima Island makes us feel so inspired.
Of course, it was my first time engraving a connected motif on the outside.
I already can’t wait to make it.
It feels almost like a miracle that we were able to meet on this little island in the world.
The two rings may be as precious as a single flower blooming on a vast stretch of land.

After the consultation, we took photos together and said goodbye.
When I happened to look up, I saw the faint glow of the daytime moon shining in the sky.
I found them right beside me, looking at the same moon — the three of us standing side by side.
